CALL FOR ENTRY: Juried Exhibition at Emerge Gallery

At times, we have the expectation that our work will last forever or that it will at least outlast the maker. However, in some cases the physical piece itself is not meant to be lasting, but is instead meant to have a lasting effect, be it on a body, an environment, or a place. And while that piece might have an expiration date, the documentation of it is indeed lasting. Documenting, either with photography, video, drawings, or even effected objects such as material or clothing is as much an important aspect of making as the physical work.
Photographs that document process or the final effect of ephemeral or temporary works are preferred but may be accompanied by any remnants or artifacts of the piece so long as they can be hung on a wall. Artists are encouraged to submit a 150-word artist statement with their entry.
What: 2D Work; Wall Ready!
Details:
– Deadline to submit October 31
– Entry fee of $20 for up to five (50 submissions
– Works of all media accepted BUT must hang on the wall
– No larger than 48″ x 48″
– Must be wall-ready (i.e. ready to hang on the wall).
– Artist pays for shipping to and from the gallery
– Jurors: Director of ECU Gray Gallery, Angel Bellaran & Art Director and Artist, Danica Pantic

The show will be on display during the 2019 Material Topics Symposium, Jan 18-20. Work will be up Jan 4th – 24th 2019. Work must be shipped to Emerge Gallery (404 Evans St, Greenville, NC 27858) between December 1- 14 2018. Selected artists are asked to purchase a return shipping label to be included with the piece.
